PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head driver and a head driving method. SOLUTION: The head driver includes: a medium to be recorded provided with first and second recording surfaces with a servo signal recorded thereon; a first head corresponding to the first recording surface; a head driving part for using the servo signal of the first head to make the first head follow a track in the first recording surface; a second head for reading the servo signal from a track of the second recording surface while the first head follows the track in the first recording surface; and a detecting part for detecting a difference in a track position between the first recording surface and the second recording surface based on the servo signal read by the second head, wherein the head driving part, after detecting the difference in the track position, uses information obtained by correcting the servo signal read by the second head on the basis of the difference in the track position and makes the first head follow the track in the first recording surface.
