A method and apparatus for paging in a wireless communication system is disclosed, which is capable of performing the paging for a plurality of paging groups by detecting a tendency in movement of an MS, wherein the method comprises detecting the number of paging groups with reference to a database recording information of BS changed according to a movement of an MS and information of paging group including the BS; and sequentially performing the paging for the BS corresponding to the information of BS recorded in the database if the number of paging groups is more than a reference value.
