PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the cycle time for manufacturing a group of electrodes. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a group of electrodes for a square battery is provided which superposes positive electrode plates and negative electrode plates alternately so that separators are interposed between the positive electrode plates 4 and the negative electrode plates 5. According to the method, a plurality of guide plates 13a are arranged zigzag in the horizontal direction, and while a separator continuity 3 is inserted between a row of the guide plates in upper tiers and a row of the guide plates in lower tiers, both rows of the guide plates are made to cross each other in the vertical direction to fold the continuity zigzag in a vertically corrugated form. The positive electrode plates and the negative electrode plates are inserted alternately in respective valleys 3a of the zigzag-folded continuity, and the guide plates are pulled out of the valleys of the continuity. Afterward, the continuity is pressed in the zigzag direction to be flattened. Hence the number of valleys needed for one group of electrodes can be formed at once on the separator continuity, which reduces the cycle time significantly. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
