PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent noise generated from a detachable earphone. SOLUTION: A sound output apparatus is provided with an earphone insertion detection unit and a power supply control unit. The earphone insertion detection unit detects whether an earphone 28 for converting an electric signal generated by an earphone amplifier 25 into a sound is detached or not by using a sensor 30. After detecting the detachment of the earphone 28, the power supply control unit turns off a power supply 20 for supplying power for generating the electric signal to the earphone amplifier 25. By turning off the power supply 20 after detaching the earphone 28, noise generated from the earphone 28 due to the OFF of the power supply 20 can be prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
