PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce uncomfortable sound (unclear sound) generated from an internal combustion engine during engine operation. SOLUTION: An intake manifold 5 provided with a volume chamber 2, intake pipes 31-38 of same number as cylinders, and an insertion pipe 4 is arranged between banks of V-type eight cylinder internal combustion engine. The volume chamber 2 includes an intake air inlet part 6 at an end part in a cylinder bank direction. The intake pipes 31-38 opens downward in a bell-mouth shape at both side parts in the volume chamber 2 at one end part thereof and communicate to intake ports of each cylinder at an outside of the volume chamber 2 through an upside of the volume chamber 2 at another end part thereof, for each cylinder group of each bank. The insertion pipe 4 has a hollow cylindrical shape, is provided inside of the volume chamber 2, is connected to the intake air inlet part 6 at one end part thereof and opens at a center part in the cylinder bank direction in the volume chamber 2 at another end part thereof. A recess part forming a part or an extension part of the bell-mouth shape opening part of the intake pipes 31-34 is provided at an outer wall of the insertion pipe 4. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
