PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lock built in a stile which has proper operability and allows a person not to easily discriminate a locked state and an unlocked state. SOLUTION: A latching portion 13 is equipped with an elongated piece 14 which is elongated toward an indoor side, an operation unit 11 comprises a recessed guide 40 which is mounted and fixed on the indoor surface of a meeting stile 20, and an operation portion 41 which is fixed to an indoor end of the elongated piece 14 so as to make the latching portion 13 freely operable from the indoor side, the guide 40 has an opening surface 40d which is opened on the indoor side, opening/closing wings 42 are formed at both sides of the opening surface 40d so as to be opened and closed, respectively, and the opening/closing wins 42 are urged in the direction of closing the opening surface 40d, the operation portion 41 is arranged in the guide 40 in a state that the latching portion 13 is engaged with a retainer 5 so that an indoor surface can become almost flush with the opening/closing wing 42; and the latching portion 13 is housed in the guide 40 and in an area closed by the opening/closing wings 42 in a state of being disengaged from the retainer 5.
