BACKLIGHT, OPTICAL MEMBER, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight which is capable of suppressing brightness variations and of maintaining a wide width of viewing angle dependence of brightness in a prescribed axis direction.

SOLUTION: A diffusing plate 14 having a transmittance of 50 to 70% is disposed in an aperture part 120 of a housing 12 of a backlight 10, and there is laid a lenticular lens sheet 31. A pitch Pc and a height Hc of cylindrical lenses on the lenticular lens sheet 31 and a width Wf of flat portions formed between adjacent cylindrical lenses satisfy a formula (1) 1/16≤Wf/Pc<1/6 and a formula (2) 5/16≤Hc/Pc≤1/2. An angle θdeg formed by convexes of the cylindrical lenses and a virtual plane containing edges of the cylindrical lenses satisfies a formula (3) 60≤θ<90. A diffusing sheet 32 having a transmittance of ≥80% and a haze value of ≥60% is laid on the lenticular lens sheet 31.
