PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To confirm the data written by the other equipment in an imaging system handling removable media and to control the data in a state reproducible with imaging system when reproduction is possible. SOLUTION: In the removable media used as a recording medium in a built-in camera recording and reproducing apparatus, when content data is written with an external PC or the like and is inserted into a slot of the built-in camera recording and reproducing apparatus, It is discriminated that whether management information read out from the recording medium and developed in a memory coincides with content data recorded in the recording medium actually or not as to the content data within an optional folder satisfying specific conditions by a house-keeping function of the built-in camera recording and reproducing apparatus. Consequently, when the content data described in the management information is not in the recording medium, information of the content data is erased from the management information developed in the memory, and the management information is updated corresponding to the actual content data in the recording medium.
