PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic fishing machine equipped with a means for sensing the abnormality of fishline entrainment without being affected by flapping, ricketiness and salt damage, through merely furnishing the main shaft with one simple structure. SOLUTION: The automatic fishing machine includes: a rotary drum 9 for fishline ascending/descending use equipped on the shaft end of the main shaft 7; a driving motor 11; and such a power transmission mechanism 18 that its active mobile part 18a is slidingly engaged on a spiral shaft 5 revolving by the motor's driving force and axially held in a reciprocatingly slidable way and its passive mobile part 18b is borne on the main shaft to allow both of the parts 18a and 18b to reciprocatingly slide simultaneously and the revolution of the spiral shaft 5 by the motor 11 is transmitted to the main shaft 7. In this automatic fishing machine, the main shaft 7 is fixed with a spring-receiving member 28 standing against the passive mobile part 18b of the power transmission mechanism 18, and a spring keeping a neutral position is interposed in between the passive mobile part 18b and the spring-receiving member 28, while there is provided an error detector 32 functioning to detect the sliding difference between the power transmission mechanism 18 and the main shaft 7 and halt the rotating drive of the motor 11 in between the power transmission mechanism 18 and the main shaft 7.
