SWITCHING DEVICE AND METHOD TO SWITCH ON AN ELECTRICAL APPLIANCE

A switching device is described to switch on an electrical appliance (50) which has a power supply connector (55) connected to a power supply (E). The switching device has an electromechanical power converter (1) arranged in or against a housing (56) of the electrical appliance (50) and is actuated manually by an operator of the electrical appliance (50) for conversion of a kinetic switching pulse (F) into an electrical pulse (SP), and a power supply switching unit (60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120) which in a first switched state connects the power supply connector (55) to an operating unit (51, 52) of the electrical appliance (50), and in a second switched state disconnects the operating unit (51, 52) of the electrical appliance (50) from the power supply connector (55). The power converter (1) and the power supply switching unit (60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120) are connected together by circuitry so that when the power supply switching unit (60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120) is in the second switched state, said power supply switching unit is switched into the first switched state by means of an electrical pulse (SP) produced by a mechanical actuation of the power converter (1). Also described are a power converter (1) to be used in such circuitry device, an electrical appliance (50) with an associated switching device, and a method to switch on an electrical appliance (50).
