PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner and image forming device which can correct the start position errors or horizontal scanning line magnification errors after adjusting the inclination without forming a check mark image. SOLUTION: This optical scanner has a laser diode to emit a light beam, a deflector composed of a polygon motor and a polygon mirror to deflect the writing light which is the light beam emitted from the laser diode in the main scanning direction, a reflecting mirror to reflect the writing light, and an inclination adjuster to adjust the inclination of the horizontal scanning line on the surface of a photoreceptor to scan by changing the attitude of the reflection mirror. Further, it has a controller functioning as a compensator to correct at least either the write start position errors or the horizontal scanning line magnification errors based on the reflecting mirror attitude changed by the inclination adjuster.
