PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing glassine paper, capable of subjecting glassine paper to a supercalender without reheating, in view of the fact that, glassine paper may be produced by being subjected to a supercalender under high-temperature and high-pressure, wherein paper made by papermaking process is rehumidified for supercalendering using a damping apparatus; however, the above paper has been dried once, resulting in energy waste. SOLUTION: A humidifier 15 is installed on a group of dryers 41 of a dry part 4, and web paper under traveling is sprayed with water to be humidified. The moisture content of the paper produced by passing through the dry part 4 is adjusted to a level suitable for subjecting the paper to a supercaleder 10 for producing the glassine paper, thus ensuring the paper to be subjected to the supercalender 10 without rehumidification. The humidifier 15 adjusts, based on data obtained by a BM meter 7, the water-spray level by a cross-direction moisture controller in the cross direction of web paper to uniformize the moisture content of the web paper.
