METHOD FOR SPECIFICALLY DETECTING TEST SUBSTANCE USING PHOTOCURRENT, SENSOR UNIT USED THEREFOR, AND MEASURING DEVICE

A method for specifically detecting a test substance by using a photocurrent produced by photoexcitation of a sensitizing dye with high accuracy. The method is realized by greatly simplifying the detection procedures and the structure of the sensor unit and the device used by the method. The sensor unit and a device are also disclosed. The method is as follows. A sample liquid containing a test substance and a sensitizing dye are brought into contact with the surface of a work electrode, and the sensitizing dye is immobilized on the work electrode through a specific bonding. While the sample liquid is being held without being removed, an electrolyte is supplied on the spot so as to bring the work electrode and a counter electrode into contact with the electrolyte. Light is directed to the work electrode to photoexcite the sensitizing dye. Thus, the photocurrent flowing between the work electrode and the counter electrode is detected.
