Provided is an electric servo-press (1), which makes a change, on the basis of an abrupt stop command signal (Skt), into a rotation stop control of a servo-motor (10) to follow an abrupt stop motion (CRVs), thereby to actuate a brake so that a mechanical type brake (15) may start an actual brake at a scheduled stop time (t3) till the stop according to the abrupt stop motion, and which blocks the rotation driving power source of the servo-motor (10) forcibly. As a result, the rotation of the servo-motor (10) can be stopped reliably and promptly, while avoiding a severe mechanical brake action, even in the case of an abrupt stop request at the time when a runaway or the like is caused by the trouble in the servo-motor (10) or its control system.
