PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indoor unit for an air conditioner capable of simplifying a structure and work during manufacture of the indoor unit. SOLUTION: The indoor unit 10 for an air conditioner is characterized by including an indoor heat exchanger 21 having indoor air suction openings 14, 15 and a blowout opening 16 and arranged with a ventilation passage in a casing 11 composed of a front face panel 12 and a rear plate body 13, an indoor fan 22 driven by a fan motor 26, a main electrical component box 24 housed in a side part of the casing and housing a main board and a power source terminal, a display case 32 arranged in a main electrical component box neighborhood and equipped with lamps 35 displaying an operated state, a horizontal louver 23 arranged on the blowout opening 16 and adjusting a vertical direction, and a louver motor 28 arranged on one end of the horizontal louver 23 and turning the horizontal louver 23.
