PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device capable of executing an image process and a compression process in real time without limiting a recording processing time short. SOLUTION: This imaging device comprises: a first data generation part 12 generating compressed image data by compressing image data output from a preprocess part 3, generating metadata exhibiting necessary data in generating image data of another format different from that of the compressed image data from the image data, and thereafter recording the compressed image data and the metadata in an external memory 10; and a second data generation part 13 reading the compressed image data and the metadata from the external memory 10 as a task having priority lower than that of the task of the first data generation part 12, thereafter extending the compressed image data to image data, and generating image data of another format based on the extended image data and the metadata, and recording the image data of the other format in the external memory 10.
