The invention relates to a gas meter comprising several measuring chambers and a rotating distribution spool (2) rotating about a rotational axis fixed on the upper surface of a distribution cover (1) with several openings (10-12) each connected to a measuring chamber, the spool (2) allowing gas to alternately enter and exit the measuring chambers during rotation thereof about the axis and the cover (1) has at least two sealing rings (15a, 15b), concentric to the fixed axis, on the flat upper edge of which spool contact surfaces (25, 26) slide. According to the invention, the flat upper edge (15d) of at least one of the sealing rings has a non-circular form defined such that all points of the contact surface facing the flat upper edge (15d) with a non-circular form comes out of contact with said edge at least once per rotation. Advantage is promotion of removal of contaminating agents.
