<p>Disclosed is a method for producing an aluminum titanate ceramic by firing, for a shorter time, a precursor mixture which is obtained by mixing a titania source powder, an alumina source powder and a magnesia source powder. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing an aluminum titanate ceramic, which is characterized in that a precursor mixture is obtained by mixing a titania source powder and an alumina source powder and dry-grinding the mixed powders with an acceleration of not less than 2G in the co-presence of grinding media, and then the thus-obtained precursor mixture is fired. The titania source powder and the alumina source powder may be mixed together with a magnesia source powder or a silica source powder. The mixed powders are preferably ground by a vibration mill. An aluminum titanate ceramic powder can be produced by crushing the aluminum titanate ceramic which is obtained by the above-described production method.</p> |
