<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device capable of executing various coordinate input modes on a screen of a display panel using fluctuation of an operation signal particularly based on a coordinate signal, and switching a coordinate input device to a power saving mode under a prescribed condition. <P>SOLUTION: The input device 4 is incorporated with the coordinate input device 5, and uses the operation signal based on the coordinate signal from the coordinate input device, thereby performing the various coordinate input modes on the screen of the display panel 3. A screen display processing means for executing the coordinate input mode on the screen of the display panel particularly in cooperation with the fluctuation of the operation signal is provided, so that operations, for example, in menu selection are not restricted to vertical and horizontal direction, but operations to all directions are achievable.
