<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup capable of stably detecting a focus error signal and a tracking error signal for a disk of two layers or more such as a BD, an HD, and a DVD, and to provide an optical disk device. <P>SOLUTION: Signal light is divided and detected. A photodetector has two regions, a region A and a region B. Among the diffracted light beams diffracted by a track on the optical disk, only the zero-order diffracted light beam is made incident on the region A, and zero-order and ± first-order diffracted light is made incident on the region B.
