PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state imaging device capable of changing a gain as required and suppressing power consumption more than a conventional technique.

SOLUTION: The solid-state imaging device 1 includes: a pixel array 10; a reference signal generation unit 27 for generating a reference signal that changes monotonically in time; a comparator 252 for comparing a pixel signal output from the pixel with a reference signal; a counter 254 for counting input clock pulses; a memory 256 for storing the count value counted by the counter 254 as a digital value during a period from the start of a change in the reference signal until the comparator 252 indicates the coincidence between the pixel signal and the reference signal; and a timing control unit 20 for generating a clock to be input into the counter 254, and changing frequency of the clock to be input into the counter based on external input data.
