PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indoor unit of an air conditioner provided with an air trunk for surely separating dust attached to an air filter, from the air filter and collecting the same, and capable of automatically cleaning the air filter with a comparatively simple constitution. SOLUTION: An indoor unit body 1 includes a suction opening 5, and a supply opening 7, and receives a heat exchanger 10 and a blower 12 comprising a cross flow fan 13, the air filter 22 is disposed at a suction side of the heat exchanger, an air filter upstream-side ventilation space 23 provided with a dust box 25, is formed between the air filter and the suction opening, an exhaust guide opening 29 communicated with a main body outer portion from the ventilation space is formed in a state of being opened and closed by a guide plate 30. A stabilizer 20 is disposed in a ventilation flue 17A between the cross flow fan and the supply opening, and a control portion S forms a back-flow guide air trunk G for successively guiding the air to the supply opening, the cross flow fan, the heat exchanger, the air filter, the air filter upstream-side ventilation space, the dust box and the exhaust guide opening by closing the suction opening, the supply opening and the guide exhaust opening, projecting the stabilizer, and controlling the rotation of the cross flow fan in the same direction.
