PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interpolation frame generation apparatus capable of performing interpolation frame processing of high quality by excluding the influence of an incorrect motion vector, and to provide an interpolation frame generation method and a broadcast receiving apparatus. SOLUTION: The interpolation frame generation apparatus for generating an interpolation frame image (32) to be inserted between continuous frame images (31, 33) includes a motion vector detection part (12) configured to execute block matching processing in respective blocks (40-1, ...) out of a plurality of blocks composing the continuous frame images (31, 33) and specify one motion vector on an interpolation frame, and a generation part (13) configured to, for a block in which one motion vector can be specified by the motion vector detection part, generates an interpolation frame image on the basis of the motion vector, and for a block in which one motion vector cannot be specified by the motion vector detection part, generates an interpolation frame based on a frame image containing no motion vector component.
