PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition for clothing excellent in cleaning performance, re-contamination preventing performance and softening performance. SOLUTION: The detergent composition for clothing includes: an anionic surfactant (a) expressed by general formula (I): R<SP>1</SP>-O-(AO)m-(EO)n-SO<SB>3</SB>M; a clay mineral (b); and a nonionic surfactant (c) expressed by general formula (III): R<SP>2</SP>-O-(C<SB>3</SB>H<SB>6</SB>O<SB>2</SB>)x-H. In formula (I), R<SP>1</SP>represents a 6-22C hydrocarbon group; AO represents 3C and/or 4C oxyalkane-diyl groups; EO represents an oxyethylene group; m represents from 1 to 10; and n represents from 0 to 20.
