PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a copolyester excellent in crystallization characteristics essential for forming a blow molded bottle, that is excellent in mechanical strength and sealing nature of a mouth portion thereof and is suitable for filling up with a liquid such as beverages, in a high productivity. SOLUTION: The method for producing the copolyester comprises polymerizing (I) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid or an ester-forming derivative thereof, (II) a diol or an ester-forming derivative thereof (however, except the copolymerizable compound (III)), and (III) at least one sort of copolymerizable compound selected from the group consisting of (A) a diol group-containing polyolefin compound, an ester-forming derivative thereof, and (B) an epoxy group-containing polyolefin compound, wherein, the method comprises mixing the copolymerizable compound (III) with at least one part of the diol (II) or the ester-forming derivative thereof, then preparing a copolymerizable slurry by raising temperature up to a melting point or above of the copolymerizable compound (III).
