PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce weight, and to improve riding comfort, while securing run flat durability. SOLUTION: A run flat tire 1 has a carcass 6, a belt layer 7 and a side reinforcing rubber layer 11. The carcass 6 is composed of a carcass ply 6A of covering a carcass cord 20 composed of aramid fiber arranged at an angle of 45-90°to the tire equator with topping rubber. The belt layer 7 is composed of a pair of edge belt plies 7A of forming a crown area in a center extracted shape, and one full belt ply 7B arranged over the edge belt ply 7A on the outside and both sides in the tire radial direction of the edge belt ply 7A. In a tire meridian cross section of a normal state, a separate distance RW in the tire axis direction of the edge belt ply 7A, is set to 5 mm to 0.25 time or less of a maximum width of the belt layer.
