The filter cartridge (3) comprises a cup-shaped container (1) for the reception of cleaning material equipped in a cover area on the one hand and in a base area on the other hand with holes for passing the fluid. The container is arranged in use position in a filling vessel (2) that enters the fluid to be cleaned in the cover area into the filter cartridge and emerges the cleaned fluid in the base area. The resulting clear width of the holes in the cover area of the filter cartridge is doubly as large as the resulting clear width of the holes of the base area.
