<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biometric authentication device and a biometric authentication method by which the success probability of authentication can be enhanced. <P>SOLUTION: The biometric authentication device 1 authenticates a user by verifying preliminarily registered bodily characteristics of a registrant with bodily characteristics input by the user, and is provided with an authentication device 10. The authentication device 10 calculates a matching degree between the bodily characteristics input by the user via a biological information reading part 11 and the preliminarily registered bodily characteristics of the registrant, and when it is judged that the calculated matching degree becomes equal to or more than a reference threshold, judges that the user is the principal registrant. In addition, the authentication device 10 calculates a matching degree between bodily characteristics reinput by the user and the preliminarily registered bodily characteristics of the registrant when it is judged that the calculated matching degree becomes less than the reference threshold, and judges that the user is the principal registrant when it is judged that the matching degree calculated through reinput becomes equal to or more than an auxiliary threshold less than the reference threshold, and when a personal identification number input by the user via a personal identification number input means matches to a personal identification number preliminarily registered by the registrant. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
