PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To light a lighting system such as an LED used for an operating button or a lamp for notifying abnormality, with an appropriate light emission quantity. SOLUTION: A mode setting part sets a dimming mode when a person detecting part detects a person, when the person detecting part detects no person but it is immediately after the completion of image formation, when a network I/F part is in the middle of receiving image data, or when it is immediately after the completion of document reading by a document reading part. On the other hand, the mode setting part sets a normal mode when the person detecting part detects no person and when it is not immediately after the completion of image formation.
