<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent troubles of deteriorating uniformity of luminance of light emitted from a light-transmitting section by forming a shadow of an obstacle such as ribs arranged in the vicinity and in front of LEDs in order to make an external panel exhibit an illumination effect when the light from the LED supported on a printed board is emitted from the light-transmitting section arranged on an operation panel arranged in the front. <P>SOLUTION: An electronic device having an illumination structure includes a slender operation plate 10 having a linear light-transmitting section 12, a slender circular frame 4 for supporting an outer peripheral edge of the operation plate, the external panel 2 having the plurality of ribs 20 arranged along in the longitudinal direction of an internal space 4b of the circular frame at intervals, and the printed board 30 having the LEDs 32 at the front position which avoids respective ribs, which exposes its front surface by being arranged from a back face side to the inside of the circular frame. Each rib is arranged by straddling opposite long sides of the circular frame, and has an evacuation section evacuated backward to a section facing to at least the linear light-transmitting section.
