<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately specify a cylinder causing misfire when misfire occurs in an internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: When misfire is determined on the basis of fluctuation of engine rotation (S220), it is determined whether or not an operation point of the engine belongs to a resonance region on a latter stage including a dumper (S230, S240), specifies a cylinder causing the misfire in accordance with a clunk angle CA in which the misfire is determined if the operation point does not belong to the resonance region (S250), and a value "1" is set to an operation point restriction flag F by which re-setting of the operation point is instructed so that the operation point comes apart from the resonance region if the operation point belongs to the resonance region (S270). As a result, specifying the cylinder causing the misfire in a state where the operation point of the engine belongs to the resonance region on the later stage including the dumper can be avoided, and the cylinder causing the misfire when the misfire occurs in the engine can be accurately specified. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
