PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead acid storage battery in which durability of a current collector can be improved and a long lifetime can be realized. SOLUTION: The lead acid storage battery has 18 electrode plate groups housed in a battery case. The electrode plate group has a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate laminated through a separator. The positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate each have a current collector in which a powder of lead or lead alloy is pressure molded. A positive electrode active material and a negative electrode active material are respectively held by the current collectors. The powder to form the current collectors is used by classifying an atomized granule which is rapidly solidified by spraying a molten body of lead or lead alloy. When the maximum particle size of the powder is denoted as dmax and the minimum particle size is denoted as dmin, 0.1μm<dmin<10μm, 50μm<dmax<500μm are satisfied. In the current collector, the powder of smaller particle size is filled into the powder of larger particle size to increase the filling density. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
