摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent lowering of output for knocking avoidance in transitional operation to a high load from a low load. SOLUTION: A control device 13 of an internal combustion engine includes: at least one fuel injection means 11 to directly inject fuel to the inside of a cylinder 1 of the engine; a supplying speed control means 13 to variably control supplying speed of an air-fuel mixture formed as the injected fuel takes up air in the circumference; a combustion starting means 12 to ignite the air-fuel mixture; operating state detection means 14, 15 to detect an operating state of the engine; and a combustion speed detection means 13 to detect combustion speed of the air-fuel mixture based on the operating state. The device is free to operate by changing a first combustion mode to ignite the air-fuel mixture almost homogenous after fuel injection and a second combustion mode to make combustion frame of the air-fuel mixture stand in the inside of the cylinder by controlling the supplying speed and the combustion speed to be balanced over to each other and carries out the second combustion mode in an operating state where an engine mode is changed over to the high load from the low load.
