<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device that reduces fault regions in a binning read mode without lowering transfer rate to a great extent and a method of controlling same. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging device with an imaging portion enabling non-destructive read holds region information for dividing an element region of the imaging portion into a first element region for carrying out non-binning read and a second element region for performing binning read. Further, the device carries out not only non-binning read of the first element region to obtain pixel data from the image picked up by the imaging portion but also binning read of the second element region to obtain the pixel data. Additionally, the device converts the pixel data obtained by the non-binning read into the pixel data allowing the binning read to generate the binning image by the converted pixel data and the one obtained by the binning read. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
