PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption in each radio terminal for forming an ad hoc network when there are a plurality of communication paths relaying a packet, and to extend operation time in the entire ad hoc communication system. SOLUTION: In the ad hoc communication system, a first terminal unit communicating with a radio terminal for forming an ad hoc network by radio sets the plurality of communication paths for transferring packets between the first terminal unit and a second one for communicating with one of the radio terminals by radio, collects information on the situation of the propagation of electric waves from at least one radio terminal for composing a communication path, turns on the radio terminals, prepares a schedule including an operation instruction for turning off the radio terminals for composing other communication paths based on information on the propagation range of the radio signal, and distributes the schedule to the radio terminal to be operated according to the operation instruction.
