PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device accurately obtaining positional information of a resist mark without decreasing resist mark detection accuracy by an optical sensor. SOLUTION: This image forming device has a plurality of image carriers 10 which carry an image developed by a liquid developing agent of a different color containing a carrier and toner particles for each color; an intermediate transfer body 40 on which the developed image is transferred from the plurality of image carriers 10 and which moves in a predetermined direction; and an optical sensor 90 which detects the developed image transferred to a predetermined place on the intermediate transfer body 40. This control method includes a correction mode to transfer resist marks to the predetermined place on the intermediate transfer body 40 with the plurality of image carriers 10, detect the resist marks by the optical sensor 90, compute color shift quantity between different colors, and correct the computed color shift quantity.
