<p>A resistance mechanism (10) used in motor vehicle accelerator pedals for generating an opposing mechanical force. The resistance mechanism (10) includes a piston (70) adapted for movement in a housing (20) between a first detent or stop position and a second compressed position. The piston (70) includes an exterior surface defining at least one recess. A spring (94), located in the housing (20), biases the piston (70) in the first position. A pin (90) in the housing (20) is seated in the recess of the piston (70) in the first position of the piston (70). A retainer is adapted to retain the pin (90) in the piston recess in the first position of the piston.</p> |
