PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which does not require the assurance of the special operation time only for suppressing image flowing, and makes the suppression of the image flowing, and the suppression of wear of a cleaning blade over a long period of time compatible with each other. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a photoreceptor, a contact type charging means, an electrostatic latent image forming means, a toner image forming means for forming a toner image, a transfer means for transferring the toner image from a photoreceptor surface to a transfer medium, and the cleaning blade provided being in contact with the photoreceptor surface, wherein an external additive having average grain size within a range of≥80 nm to≤500 nm, and average circularity within a range of≥0.8 and≤1 is added to the toner and the rotary torque of the photoreceptor satisfies formula (1) 1.2B≤A≤5B. Here, in the formula (1), A denotes a maximal value of the rotary torque in a rotation beginning period, and B denotes an average value of the rotary torque in a stationary rotation period.
