<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag device for knee protection so smoothly inflatable that an airbag projecting from a column cover is deployed and inflated widely in the lateral direction at the beginning of the inflation and the thickness of the airbag is increased. <P>SOLUTION: In this airbag device for knee protection, the airbag 51 includes an inlet port 56 which is connected to an inflator 36 near the longitudinal and lateral center when the inflation is completed. A front tether 58 and a rear tether 59 for connecting a driver side wall part 52 and a column side wall part 53 to each other are disposed on the longitudinal both sides of the inlet port 56, respectively. After so streamlining an inflation gas G flowing from the inlet port 56 to the inflator that the gas flows toward the lateral both ends of the center portion 61 thereof, the front tether 58 and the rear tether 58 allows the gas to flow out into the front portion 62 and the rear portion 63 thereof through outlet passage parts 60F, 60B.
