摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the deterioration of the image quality due to a discrepancy between a timing when the lighting state of a backlight changes and a timing when the transmittance of a liquid crystal panel changes without giving an influence on the life of elements constituting the backlight. <P>SOLUTION: Light sources are disposed in a plurality of light source regions. A light emission controller controls the light emission of a plurality of light sources as a light emission means to illuminate the liquid crystal panel using the plurality of light sources. The light emission controller has a lighting value change detection means to detect changes in lighting values of the plurality of light sources, and a lighting control means whereby the plurality of light sources are lit at a plurality of lighting times, respectively, by a pulse width modulation corresponding to changes in the lighting values detected by the lighting value change detection means, and are also lit more times in the latter half of a lighting period from the first lighting time to the final lighting time in the plurality of lighting times than the first half thereof. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
