PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of handling simply and easily by the same method and the same procedure, a canister (having no leakage of a melt which is a volume reduction object) and a double compound container (having a leakage of the melt which is the volume reduction object), when taking out a solidified body (radioactive waste) subjected to high-frequency heating and melting from a high-frequency heating and melting furnace by using the double compound container constituted of the canister and an outer container, and storing it in a storage container, and capable of utilizing the canister repeatedly, when having no leakage of the melt which is the volume reduction object. SOLUTION: This heating melting volume-reduction method is realized as follows: the double compound container storing the volume reduction object inside, which is the double compound container formed by fitting the canister into the outer container in piles with a prescribed gap, is subjected to volume reduction by being heated and melted in the high-frequency heating and melting furnace, and the double compound container after the volume reduction is stored into a prescribed a volume reduction object storage container through a temporary lid and a temporary container.
