SEPARATION MEMBRANE ELEMENTS, SEPARATION MEMBRANE MODULE, AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING SEPARATION MEMBRANE ELEMENT

Separation membrane elements which can be produced by a method comprising immersing an end part of a hollow-fiber porous separation membrane in a liquid resin and then curing the resin to form a membrane sealing part. One of the separation membrane elements is characterized in that the membrane sealing part has been formed from a casting resin, the pores of the hollow-fiber porous separation membrane which are present in a part in contact with the membrane sealing part have been filled with a pore-filling resin, and the casting resin is tenaciously adherent to the pore-filling resin. The root part of the hollow-fiber porous separation membrane is flexible and is less apt to break or cause gas/liquid leakage during use. The other separation membrane element is characterized in that at least that surface of the membrane sealing part which is on the side which comes into contact with a liquid to be treated has been formed from a thermosetting fluororesin. This membrane sealing part has excellent chemical resistance like conventional membrane sealing parts made of a thermoplastic fluororesin. Also provided are: a separation membrane module including separation membrane elements of either of the above kinds as constituent elements; and a process for producing the separation membrane elements.
