Producing aromatic polyester polyols, comprises reacting polyvalent alcohols with aromatic di- and/or polycarboxylic acid, its ester and/or polyester under the addition of catalyst, where the reaction takes place by reacting at least one polyvalent alcohol with at least one reactive secondary hydroxyl group containing terephthalic acid, its esters and/or polyesters. An independent claim is included for the aromatic polyester polyols, obtained by the above process.
