ELECTRODELESS DISCHARGE LAMP DEVICE AND LIGHTING APPARATUS THEREWITH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeless discharge lamp device which starts lighting in short time even after left in a dark place for long time and reliably secures staring of lighting of a bulb in a dark place for use in a long period without shortening the life of a starting aid light source; and to provide a lighting apparatus therewith.

SOLUTION: The electrodeless discharge lamp device 100 includes: a bulb 200 in which a discharge gas is sealed; a coupler 300 to hold the bulb 200; a lighting circuit 400 to supply a lighting electric power to an induction coil 330 of the coupler 300; and a starting aid circuit 500 having a starting aid light source 510 to irradiate the bulb 200 with light at the start of the bulb 200, wherein the starting aid circuit 500 includes a CdS cell 521 to sense light from the bulb 200 and light irradiated to the bulb 200; and the life of the starting aid light source 510 is prolonged by not lighting the starting aid light source 510 at the start of lighting of the bulb 200 in a light place and turning off the light after the lighting of the bulb 200 in the dark place.
