GLASS SUBSTRATE FOR FLAT PANEL DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the probability of causing the breakage of a glass substrate starting from its end surface part during execution of a heat treatment step as much as possible by suitably evaluating and then rationalizing surface properties of the end surface part of the glass substrate subjected to round chamfering. SOLUTION: In the glass substrate for flat panel displays which has the end surface part subjected to round chamfering, the end surface part subjected to round chamfering has RSm/Ra of≥80 wherein Ra is an arithmetic mean height of contour curves and RSm is a mean length of contour curve elements.
