Disclosed is a humanized anti-human a9-integrin antibody having improved activities and/or physical properties compared with a donor mouse anti-human a9-integrin antibody. Specifically disclosed is a humanized anti-human a9-integrin antibody which has a heavy-chain variable region comprising the amino acid sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:1 or an amino acid sequence having the substitution, deletion, insertion and/or addition of one or several amino acid residues in the amino acid sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:1 and a light-chain variable region comprising the amino acid sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:61 or an amino acid sequence having the substitution, deletion, insertion and/or addition of one or several amino acid residues in the amino acid sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:61. Also disclosed is a means for preventing or treating a disease of which human a9-integrin is involved in the development of the disease condition, which utilizes the antibody.
