Described is equipment for detecting and locating partial discharges by means of the acoustic method in power electric equipment, which comprises four or more acoustic sensors (1) interconnected to a hub module (2) which has the same number of signal processing modules (3), a controller (4), an analogical filter (5) providing a trigger level according to a Pulse-Width Modulation signal produced by the controller (4), a phase reference comparator (7), a communication module (6), a feeding source (20) and a computer (30) connected in local or remote form, the aforementioned elements are interconnected according to Figure I. The present invention is characterised in that it uses acoustic sensors inter-built in one of the stages of the mechanical envelop thereof. In addition, it is characterised in that the acoustic signal envelop is processed, which presents substantial advantages with regard to previous developments where the original signals are digitalised. The trigger signals used in the present invention are the same acoustic signals, thereby do not requiring additional signals.
