<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus to be assembled easily. <P>SOLUTION: The copying machine comprises an apparatus main body 3 having at least an image forming part 30, an image reading unit 2 provided above the apparatus main body 3 so as to be fixed to the apparatus main body 3 by fitting, and a side plate 6 provided to the apparatus main body 3. The apparatus main body 3 comprises a hook member 300 for fixing the image reading unit 2 on its top surface 3a. The image reading unit 2 has a through-hole 200 for fitting with the hook member 300 in its lower surface 2m.
