<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dielectric ceramic which can obtain high insulation resistance even when the voltage to be applied is low, and in which lowering of the insulation resistance upon the increase of the voltage is reduced, and to provide a multilayer ceramic capacitor provided with the dielectric ceramic as a dielectric layer and having excellent service life properties in a high temperature load test. <P>SOLUTION: Disclosed is a dielectric ceramic comprising crystal grains essentially composed of barium titanate and comprising calcium and vanadium, and a grain boundary phase present among the crystal grains. The dielectric ceramic comprises the vanadium by 0.0005 to 0.03 mol expressed in terms of V<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>to 1 mol of the total content of the barium and calcium composing the barium titanate, and further, in an X-ray diffraction chart, diffraction intensity in the (004) face showing the tetragonal system of the barium titanate is higher than that in the (004) face showing the cubic system of the barium titanate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
