PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for coal gasification which has drastically high efficiency and has an extremely small amount of releasing carbon dioxide gas. SOLUTION: In the method for coal gasification, coal is gasified under a pressure of 1 to 100 kg/cm<SP>2</SP>by using oxygen obtained by electrolysis of water and water vapor of 300 to 600°C obtained by thermal exchange with the high-temperature gas generated by gasification and, subsequently, hydrogen obtained by the electrolysis of water is mixed to the gas obtained by the gasification.
